Being the closest major ski area to Denver, Winter Park is an affordable, convenient resort with the laid back atmosphere of genuine Colorado. It has the best snowfall record of all Colorado's major resorts.
Bags of choice at bargain prices. Kickapoo Tavern and Derailer Bar (main lift base) and Club Car. The Slope (live music), the Shed or Adolph's have a good reputation. The Crooked Creek Saloon or Randi's Irish Saloon are usually lively.
From Colorado to Cajun and easy on the pocket. The Crooked Creek Saloon at Frasier, or the Shed for good steak and seafood, Deno's Bar & Bistro, Hernado's Pizzaria, Wildcreek and The Lodge at Sunspot can all be recommended.
