Lying in the heart of the dramatic Dolomites, Val Gardena is famous for its World Cup ski races and Selva and S. Cristina are the best-known resorts in this area (also known as the South Tyrol). Both villages have access to much of the Dolomites Super ski area as well as the Sella Ronda - a 26km circular tour with well groomed pistes and modern efficient lift systems. The area has extensive snow making facilities, ensuring excellent cover throughout the season. The villages are enchanting with a traditional mix of Austrian style architecture with Italian charm and enthusiasm.
In Val Gardena there are numerous bars around the area and the atmosphere is always lively and informal. Bars and pubs have a warm and convivial atmosphere. • The Luisl Keller with live music and Laurin Keller are popular après ski spots. In La Bula there is lively après ski with a DJ and the energetic head for the Dali disco. In S.Cristina the Igloo Bar is very busy.
The local cuisine is a wonderful blend of Austrian and Italian specialities and there is a range of restaurants within each price category • Pizzas from approx. 10 Euros, 3-course meals from 25 Euros • Many of the hotels have a public restaurant. Try Scoiattolo for local specialities and Rino's for scrumptious pizzas. The Bellavista has a fantastic range of pasta dishes.
