Bulgaria lies in the South-East of Europe and its terrain is largely made up of dominating mountain ranges and deep valleys. The Balkan range spreads right across the country with the Rhodope Mountains to the South and the Pirin Mountains to the South-West. The highest peak is mount-Moussala (2925m) located in the Rila Mountains in the North-East.
